¿Qué es alabar? / What is to praise?

In Webster’s dictionary, “praise” is defined as “to glorify (a god or saint) especially by the attribution of perfections”. Is this a good definition of what it is to praise? What do you think it is to praise? Tell us how you do it. What you feel when you praise God. What is your objective when you praise God?

I feel like that is a great definition of praise to exalt God and Glorify the father. When you sing, play an instrument, testify of God’s goodness or simply meditate on God’s word that is praise because you glorify God with your actions. Their is a song entitled “We Must Praise” by Jmoss and it is a wonderful example of the word Praise and how we Glorify God through even the small things we do with our gifts. Something small as eating healthy Glorifies God because of our bodies being considered as Holy temples for the Spirit of God, so even the small things are considered Praise, as we Glorify God with them.

To praise is more like our lifestyle according to the spirit (God). Just because we sing in church does not actually mean that we are “praising” but the real praise is the reason why we are singing. Yet again we must not look at this as a routine because the gospel its self is not a routine, its a way of life in abundance. When we praise we communicate our true feelings to God in a more an entity and vivid way. Languages in general are so limited when it comes to expressing a true revelation of things such as emotions. But when we praise, God knows exactly what we are feeling. He reads our hearts daily and when we lift our voices and raise our hands he see more than just our hearts, He sees our spirits. The bible says that we must pray with out stopping and praising is a way to communicate with him. And what is prayer??? Well its also a form of communication. So when you pray and you have no more words to say just praise God with all your heart and you will see that He is attentive to your pled.
